To Each His Own

Ok, so the other day I was listening to the radio and in between songs the dj was having people call in and say what weird smells they loved, and I think whoever had the weirdest one would win a prize. Some random chick won by admitting that she LOVED the smell of skunk because it reminded her of home-SICK right? But to each his own I guess!

Anywho, this reminded me of some things that I love that people probably think are strange. I love the smell of gasoline [like the car kind, not the other dad gross], the smell of freshly sharpened pencil, the smell of seaweed and best of all the smell of fresh cut grass. This morning I was SO excited b/c guess what? I was inhaling that beautiful new fresh cut grass smell, and then I realized something-they are mowing lawns here since there is real life grass! They can actually do that now that there is no snow! It is spring time! I AM ECSTATIC!

I also love the fog. I can't tell you how many people I have met who complain, say they hate it, whine blah blah blah etc etc. And you know what-I can understand that. Its not for everyone. Some people feel that its depressing or gloomy. But you know what-to me, it reminds me of anticipation, and mysterious, exciting things to come. It is hope, and carpe diem and wonder. I just love it. When Lacey and I woke up this weekend in Utah, we were so frustrated that the curtains were wide open and that it was so bright and whiteish. But then I saw it-and although the snow they got there was a bummer, the fog that encompassed Salt Lake brought all those feelings back. Sure, it may not be sea fog, but still-it did the job.

So here is to the end of a season and its wonders and smells, and the beginning of a new one, with its own features to boast. I am looking forward to it!
